Modi-Arise-Awake

Modi Vs Rest contest is set for 2019.  We have seen different combinations of the 'rest' since 1977.  A 'strong Modi' is by far better to lead India post-2019.  But the contest is not going to be easy for Modi next year. Modi must arise and awake to win 2019!

Be more inclusive

Modi's slogan of 'sab ka saath' seems to be overshadowed by 'hardline Hindutva'.  Even among Hindus, Modi is yet to win the hearts and minds of our 'dalits'.  Modi must unequivocally disown all those hardliners who are perpetrating atrocities on dalits.

Immediately he must install at least 2-3 dalit CMs, may be in major states like Gujarath and Haryana. Cow vigilantes must stop violence and guilty must be punished.  Motor-mouthed Hindutva brigade must stop causing damage.

Moderate muslims seem to have welcomed steps like 'banning of triple talaq'. Modi should not hesitate to embrace 'soft islam' for winning their goodwill. Remember Vajpayeeji displayed statesmanship in elevating Abdul Kalam as the country's President!

Constitutional reservation and other schemes for helping 'poor from all sections', irrespective of caste and religion must be introduced.

More allies

Modi alone may not win 272 seats.  He must get going with allies. He can begin by strengthening relationship with allies like Shiv Sena and Biju Janata Dal, may be even by offering them Chief Ministership.  Was such a chance to win over JD(S) missed in Karnataka recently?

Rural India
Although the steps like 1.5 times of cost of production as the support price for farmers are revolutionary, not much is done to reach the rural masses.  'March towards villages' should become the 'mantra' at micro-level.

Job creation

This is one of the major issues where much needs to be done! While Modi claims 9 crore Mudra Loans are disbursed to create jobs, there seems to be wide-spread discontent.  Will speeding up domestic investment under sectors like 'bijli, sadak, paani' (power, roads and water) help?

Populist economics

i) Middle class, the most trusted vote base of Modi is unhappy. Deposit rates for senior citizens must go up at least up to 9%. Pensioners must be freed from the net of Income Tax!
ii) Petrol price is shooting up.  Popular schemes like 10 litres of petrol per month free for all poor families (BPL) may be introduced.

Such populist schemes are bound to increase chances of winning.

More vote banks
More vote banks like auto-drivers, street-vendors will certainly help.  Massive schemes to help such vote banks may be introduced.

Attack on Black Money

Real estate is one sector where huge black money is involved. Although new laws like Benami Property Act are introduced, massive attack on them is not yet done.  Such operations will bring in lots of goodwill, besides adding to Govt. revenue, which may be used for populist schemes.

Relationship with Media
This is one area where Modi should improve.  Poor relationship with Media is one of the reasons for their narrow loss in recent Karnataka elections.  Some soul-searching must be done!

Let us hope Modi will rise to the occasion and emerge victorious next year!

  6. When a scheme is introduced or a decision is made by the government, common man weighs the pro and cons to him at personal level. Steps like demonitization failed at micro level due to the mismanagement and hardships faced by people during the period.Though it had reduced money circulation in the economy and brought down inflation which is still under control it was not sucessful as people expected it to be. As you rightly mentioned incometax slabs should have been revised in this year budget as the 7th pay commission recommendations will increase the wages of central govt employees(mostly middle and upper middle class) and they have to shell out more income tax.A government is given a term of five years and people expect the changes in their living conditions immediately. The schemes introduced till date are not populist and though the populist schemes are generally bad to the economy in longer run will help them to win the next elections.

Dear Lakshminarayana, In a nushell you have covered certain points, issues which the BJP has to adopt to successful in 2019. In 2014 BJP was able to muster majority because of disunity among opp parties. Further there was some curiosity on Sri. Narendra Midi that he will do some good things to the poor abd economically weaker section. But what happened. At micro level no change even now. Demonatisation was utter failure because wrong implementation. The very purpose of the scheme defeated by introducing higher denomination 2000 rs note. Black money holdinv became easy. None of the political people, beurocrates had came toany bank branches for exchanging their 1000rs and 500rs notes. When such was the case how 90% currency wad put into circulation and exchanged. You hv touched reg blackmoney and scame issues. Why the intelligencies unable to find out the illegal trabsaction in PNB and how NeeravModi was allowed to run out of the country. Moreover it is a mute question why the govt had transferred the officers fromCBI who were instrumental in probibing the case . During 2014 election BJP explained how petrol prices can be brought down and assured that petrol prices will be brought down to rs.40 per ltr. Inspite of crash in crude oil they didn't bothered to bring down the price. It has touched all time high and hence indirectly effecting prices. There was big publicity that One Rank One Pay will implemented but what happened. BJP has to learn more. They are in the illution. Unless and otherwise they change their attitude towards alliances 2019 will be very difficult. But undet the circumstances BJP will only give stability when compared the kichidi coalition of parties. But disturbing issue is 100 years old congress instead of improving the base simply joins with these parties there by eroding their mass base further.

  9. The content of the blog is self contradictory..Inclusiveness is impossible for Mr Modi to embrace with RSS calling all his shots from the behind..how can u expect the proponents of a theocratic, othodox, conservative dictatorship to include inclusiveness in their dictionary..Its an oxymoron for them..Also the conerns raised in the blog like job creation, rural india, petrol prices, black money etc indicate that even after 4 years of acche din nothing substantial has been done yet..I think one more concern that should have been included here is the losses of the PSUs banks and Menace of NPAs of the corporates-who continue to be protected by the ruling establishment as these corporates are source of party funds..Nevertheless I appreciate your effort of decribing the whole scheme of events in a nutshell of critical flattery

I know Modi is hated becoz of......
      1.Crushing terrorists and anti-nationals.
      2.showing Pak its place.
3.controlling corruption at top Govt levels.
4.ushering reforms and putting India on sound economic parameters.
5.exposing huge NPAs created during Cong rule.

Let people of India decide during 2019 what is good for them.

  11. Sir, Nehru family bashing, Demon, GST at higher rates, not attending to sab ka Saath sab ka vikas, remote controlled by RSS, too much of hindutva, arrogance by both PM and party president towards oppn.parties and people, amending labour laws in Rajasthan inviting wrath of working class, over use of digital media by the party, floating lies in digital, not updating Pension to bank employees, not handling media properly, not holding press meet frequently and so many other factors contributed to downfall in 3 BJP ruled states.
Both Congress and BJP are 2 faces of the same coin.
Inspite of all these, nobody need not worry about Modi becoming PM for the second term as voters know that parliament requires stability and BJP has got strong candidate compared to oppn.which will fight amongst themselves for the top post and for state elections the issues will be of local one.
